Fabric woven at our own mill

Creston Apparel weaves fabric in-house on computerized Japanese jet looms. Because the mill and the garment units belong to the same company, a buyer ordering garments can specify the fabric construction instead of choosing from a converter’s stock range, and fabric orders are planned against the same production calendar.

Canvas is one of our core qualities, used for bags, tents, covers and workwear. The same weaving unit supplies fabric to our own garment production.

What to specify when you enquire

A woven fabric is defined by a handful of measurable properties. Sending these, or a swatch we can analyse, gets you an accurate quotation:

Property What it means Example
Composition Fibre content by percentage 100% cotton, 65/35 poly-cotton
Yarn count Fineness of warp and weft yarns 40s × 40s
Construction Ends and picks per inch 133 × 72
Weave How warp and weft interlace Plain, 2/1 twill, 3/1 twill, oxford
Weight Grams per square metre (GSM) or oz/yd² 120 GSM
Width Usable width, selvedge to selvedge 58/59”
Finish Dyeing, printing and chemical or mechanical finishing Piece-dyed, peached, water-repellent

If you don’t have every value, send the end use and a reference fabric. We propose a construction and confirm it with a swatch before bulk.

Fabric for garments or by the metre

Fabric can be woven for garments we manufacture for you, or supplied as fabric. Minimum quantities differ between the two and depend on whether the quality is dyed, printed or developed specially; we confirm them with the quotation.
